Upcoming Events

Introducing the Next Generation of the Construction Workforce.
Upcoming Career Fairs – Open to Contractors

The Ohio Laborers’ Apprenticeship Program is partnering with Hilliard, Groveport Madison, Dayton, and Youngstown High Schools to plan trades career expos for students. The Hilliard trades fair is expected to take place in October, Groveport Madison in November, and Youngstown and Dayton in September. For more information on these events, how to attend, or how to plan a Trades Career Expo in your area, please contact the apprenticeship office at vincei@oltc.org.

Upcoming Counselor’s Breakfasts

The Ohio Laborers’ Apprenticeship Program has two upcoming “Learn the Trades” High School Counselors’ Breakfasts. These counselor events are happening in tandem with the upcoming career fairs and include counselors from hosting schools as well as others in the area to encourage them host Expos of their own. These Learn the Trades events capitalize on growing trends of counselors seeking information and connection to the trades for students not interested in attending college after high school. If you are interested in planning a Counselor’s Breakfast with local high school counselors in your area, please contact the apprenticeship office at vincei@oltc.org

OCA Partnership Event

The OCA and the Ohio Laborers Apprenticeship Program are working together to plan a contractors workforce event to introduce new, vital hiring resources. Be on the lookout for updates about this event.

Upcoming High School Counselors Toolkit

The Ohio Laborers’ Apprenticeship Program is developing an informational Toolkit for high school educators and counselors. This Toolkit is a guide to prepare counselors and other career specialists to speak to their students about the union construction industry and laborer apprenticeship opportunities. The Toolkit informs counselors about how apprenticeship works, the application process, union vs. nonunion careers, job descriptions, and the role of the Ohio Laborers’ Apprenticeship Program. Please contact melissae@oltc.org for more information.

Training Season

Training season is quickly approaching! Encouraging your laborers to take part in winter training courses is a great way to maximize your workforce with confident, skilled, and innovative laborers. Training pays great dividends for your laborers’ careers and your company’s success.
