Growing Ohio’s workforce development Through collaboration and community partnership
To advance workforce development throughout Ohio, the Ohio Laborers Apprenticeship Program is partnering with county and state OhioMeansJobs officials, Local Unions, and contractors to hold workforce development meetings. Meetings are formed to create workforce solutions, partnerships, and address roadblocks to a sustainable workforce pipeline for the union construction industry.
In addition to the presence of OMJ and construction stakeholders, local school officials, nonprofit organizations, and the Ohio Latino Commission have all been brought to the table to brainstorm new workforce solutions, marketing opportunities, and community connections. As a result, these groups have been informed about union construction career opportunities. This education has created new employment partnerships and provide a necessary push for skilled trades in local school districts.
Meetings have been in Columbus, Cincinnati, Lima, and Cleveland thus far. We are seeking greater contractor input in these meetings and partnerships. If you are interested in joining these reoccurring meetings or starting a new session in your area, we would love to make those connections and plan the event for you.
